Default Who's hardier, Percula or Occy?

Both homegrown from the same place, who's the hardier fish (on average in your opinion).

Same fish, again, homegrown, who's more likely to host in a bubbletip?

They're pretty much the same. Clowns are poor shippers, but once acclimated are hardy. Homegrown damsels are pretty tough!

As far as hosting, if they don't have one as juvies, they're less likely to host. Captive bred clowns in general are less likely to host, with the exception of maroons which seem to host almost anything.

I would guess they are about the same as far as hardiness goes if you get them locally and captive bred.

I think that percs are more likely to host in a BTA but 3 of out of my 30 Occys jumped right into the BTAs so it is possible that they will as well.

Thanks Folks! It's for my son's new tank so I'll pass the info along. He lives near Preuss so he'll get some there, but I'd like him to get some of Tal's vibrants from Moby's. Might be a long stressful ride back to Lansing, though.

I just sent 30 juveniles to NY with no issues.

My first born ocellaris hosts in a toadstool leather. I had a wild caught pair long ago that never hosted in anything, anemone or coral.

It looks like some of the clowns that Tom got hosted right away and they're juveniles.

Personally, I think the "hosting" thing is an individual fish choice. I'm NOT saying a clown will choose to host in an anemone that in wouldn't in the wild but rather "hosting" in anything seems to be an individual choice. JMHO

oops, about hardiness... I'd say the A. ocellaris produce a hardier and faster maturing fish.

With poor shipping it comes down to the health of the fish prior to shipping (obvious) and how they are shipped. I have shipped fish all over the country with no issues but I typically ship them a little heavier then normal.

Both are equally as hardy in my opinion.

Thanks for the input, Tal. I really would rather he buy your's here and shoot straight home to Lansing. About an hour and half from MD's. I'll see if I can talk him into it and we'll somehow work it out so he goes at the end of his visit with me.

No offense to Preuss. I bet there's are nice too, I've just seen these in person and they're very cool.

That's great Kevin. How about posting back and telling us if it hosts and what type of anemone it is?
Thanks,
Tom
