Establishing dominance?
I have two black and white ocellaris clownfish. I have had them for about one month, I was told they where six months old when I got them. One is about an inch the other is about an inch and a half. a few days after I got them the bigger one has been harassing the smaller one non stop. The smaller one hides most of the time but when comes out the bigger one is all over it. I have read that they will establish dominance but this seems a lite extreme to me. So my question is, are they establishing dominance or is the bigger one just a bully? I dont want it to kill the smaller one but I dont want to separate them if this is normal. Thank you in advance for any help. Greg |

Hey Greg, I had the same situation recently with 2 clowns. the larger one picked on the smaller one to the point that is was so stressed out it developed ick syptoms(large white spots) so I had to remove the smaller one. They were young and I purchased them from a breeder for that purpose so they could get the dominance out of the way easier but it just didnt happen. good luck, you may want to seperate them for alittle and see what happens. |
