Default Frag Tub as a AIO?

I just have a "will this work" question. Here is my original plan once it's all said and done I plan on having a display reef overflowing to a Frag tank/fuge sump (rubbermaid contanier thing). I would like to start the frag tank/fuge portion now so I can start collecting corals for the display. Would the frag tub be able to self sustain it self? I have egg crate for the frags and below have LR and some macro algae with just power heads as flow. Would this work??

If there is enough LR, should work. I would either do a lot of water changes or have a skimmer though.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Would you need a skimmer if there is no bio load. I mean it's just a frag tank right now, no fish right?

Well I could do an external pump and skimmer. I planned on this being my only sump for the tank. Ya no fish, just LR and coral.

I just ran across a few posts saying that some of the tubs (Rubbermaid and Brute) can leak phosphates and increase algae growth. Is this true? I wasn't able to find an answer.
