How to set up a QT tank

ok guys been reading on the ich problems seems everyone is getting it must be from all the new fish coming in. either way i have read how one guy asked alot of LFS for help in quarantining his fish but all had no room. I face the same demise so i better set up my own hospital tank. the question is what is needed and how do i set one up. I really am tired of loosing fish as they are family pets and have lost some years ago. So if you have setup you own QT tank successfully let me know how i can do the same need all the tips and knowledge. thanks in advance hope i can beat this day two of signs of ich little white spots on foxface and violet tang 4 other tangs clean so .

Remember don't just treat it with copper, that's for parasites. Use some sort of Mircobe-Lift for bacteria. Do NOT use togehter. Diagnosing will play a cruical role in how you set your hospital tank up.

Not big enough for Tangs, they'll be stressed out even more and the ich will only get worse. 4' tank as a QT is better, for one Tang. 20L QT's work great just not for open swimmers.

Sit-Rep

tangs doing well. The ich was taking over the fish. They were loosing the battle fast . I knew that Ich would once again break my heart . So I set up a hospital tank and treated with copper moved them to a 55 gallon QT tank. instantly they perked up. 2nd day less spots and more of an appetite by the end of the week all is great I thought we were going to loose the foxface but he rebounded and we are on our 4th week ..lesson learned. If you have fish you must have a hospital tank or you will loose your favorite fish and alot of money. The first time this happened I lost 4 tangs and 2 clowns my kids were like where is nemo and dory ..then oh there they are being eaten by the crabs. It was like flushing 50 and 100 dollar bills .total cost could have been about 4-500.00 dollars..the cost for the hospital tank off craigslist was 65 bucks, for a 65 gallon tank and it came with lights and glass covers always install the glass covers or you might have some jumpers , used some rock out of the tank i could sacrifice for the bio-load and hooked up the bak-pak skimmer , heater and extra powerheads for flow all the fish are happy as am I ....I won Ich lost Yeahhh.
thanks guys for all your intel ...rogerwilco out

copper treat ick plus some fungus. Kanacyn sulfate treats internal and exteral fungus and bacteria, Prazi treats fluke worms
