Default Water Change Resivoirs - Let's See 'em

Hello All:

I'm getting ready to convert a 55G Plastic drum into my SW Mixing and semi-auto water change system. I have the uniseals and mag drive pump - but I'd like to see how you have your setup working.

I'll be dumping the water directly into my sump via the external mag drive, ball valves and PVC. I also plan to use the same mag drive on a recirc loop to mix and keep the SW fresh when full.

I'm especially looking for pics of your design and setup to help with my design.

Thanks in advance!

That's pretty sweet - my barrel is the same, I have a gravity fed Brute for ATO with the RO, but I don't have room to add the WC bucket to it and need to place it about 10 feet away.

Do you have a pump inside to stir the salt in the water? I'm trying to understand how you did this. Do you add salt after you add the water to the 2nd barrel?

egghead, that looks like a great setup. Relatively compact and highly efficient! The valvues on the front were a great idea to open and close the system at will. Nice work!

Both barrels recirculate and water can flow between and up the the sump. I also added a maintainence port so that I can hook up a hose or drain buy union valve.

This is what mine will be for the most part. I just updated it. In theory I can program timers in the RKE to open/close solenoids to fill certain barrels with a certain type of water. Let me know if you see anything that may not work.

I love to see these types of things, but simply don't have room for something like this. My small ranch house sets on a slab so I don't have the benefit of a basement to work with.
