bpth on the back glass, about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way up, turned inward as far as they go, one point just slightly upwards, the other just slightly downward. its what i do in my 90 and the flow is pretty random except for int the front bottom corners. thus way the are less intrusive to the view as well.

mine aren't dead, they just have a more regular flow., you can always point the return pump toward the corners and slightly down to make more flow in the front lower corners too.

Default Power heads

I have 2 of mine opposed like you have in your pic in my 120 plus another one on the right hand on constantly. I was planning on using my new RKL in a wave maker cycle for the two opposing and tested it out yesterday but am concerned that the wave maker cycle will reduce flow too much Currently my water flows clockwise but I seem to be getting dead spots where some SOS corals are not getting enough flow and others close to the ph are getting too much and growing strangely in shape and having some die off in shaded areas.

It seems like the 1400s should be ok in a 4 foot tank. I actually have two of them in my 6 ft 180 and they do an ok job. I have them opposing each other and they seem to produce a decent random flow (along with another pump pointing toward the back panel). Saving up for the MPs isn't a bad idea though. Another idea is to add a SCWD to your return line and then your return water will alternate between two inputs, creating more variations in flow. I'm in the process of installing one of these as well.
