Who uses an automatic fish feeder? What do you think is the best one?
I am looking at this one: http://www.super-feed.com/
The nice thing about this feeder, is I can control it through my neptune controller. On the down side, its a bit expensive.

I would get the eheim auto feeder it is $60 at Preuss but has a lot of functions. It is what use when i cannot regularly feed them.

I just went ahead and ordered a super feeder from the website above.
With it connected to my controller, I can do all kinds of cool stuff...including feed the fish over the internet
I haven't seen many controllers that operate like the super feeder. Most are battery operated and have their own internal timers that require programming. I assume the eheim is like this as well.

IME all auto feeders are junk, and unreliable long term. Even eheim and the others I've tried. Please let me know how this one works. The problem is that they always over feed and the tank goes to He!!.

I'm pretty happy with this one. I went on a 10 day vacation and feel this did a great job of feeding the tank. Nice thing about the super-feeder is you can hook it up to a sophisticated timer/controller to feed at whatever increments you want. I have the neptune controller and it is programmed to feed twice per day. As part of the feed seqence, the return pump shuts off (keeping food in the display long enough to get eaten), I also turn off the skimmer to keep it from flooding (because of the rise in sump level when the return is off). You can also just use a standard lamp timer to initate the feedcycle if you don't have a controller.
The adjustment on the feed roller is very fine. You can set it to feed as much or little as you want. It seems to work better with finer flakes to be able to really dial in a small amount of food. Once you close the gap around the food roller, really big flakes won't make it through as easily and have a tendancy to plug it up. One thing that seems to help counteract this is to put some pellets in the hopper as well. These help provide a little more for the roller to grab on to.
Another thing about the feeder is the hopper size is nice and large. The feeders you typically see just don't have a large enough capacity and are empty before you know it...barely enough to make it through a two week vacation. I filled my hopper up over a month ago and haven't worried about feeding fish at all....pretty much stopped. Once or twice a week, I still feed some frozen as a treat. I think this feeder will help prevent overfeeding for those that have a tendancy to feed too much.
My feeder is setup on the back of the tank with the outlet to the hopper hanging over the top. It dumps food right through my famous mesh top (which keeps in my fairy wrasses).
I will try to shoot some photos of it on my tank and post later today. Overall I give the autofeeder a thumbs up. Although I had a friend check on the tank a few times when I was gone, he didn't have to do anything to the tank. At this point, I wouldn't feel too bad going on a vacation and not have a tanksitter. (Note, this is due in large part to the Neptune contoller as well.)

Here are some pictures of it installed on my tank:
RIght now I am using the hopper extension. I probably will take this off eventually and only use it when I know I will be gone for several weeks. It hides pretty well behind my light fixture, especially when the hopper extension is removed.
The following photo shows the mount that I am using. I bought the mount from circuit city, it is intended to mount a gps inside a car with suction cups to the window. It sticks pretty well to the back of the tank too. There is a flexible goose neck that allows for adjusting the position: |

Do you still have the Super-feeder hooked up to your aquarium and Neptune AquaController? If so, are you using a DC8 or DC4 for your AquaController? If a DC8, did you have any problems with the feeder not cycling off due to its low power draw and the DC8 getting stuck on issue?
Thank you for your time. I'm looking to purchase one soon and possibly hook up to my AquaController 3.
