I just did some searching for the specific bolt that you need. Its sold in the Tek Light Fixture hanging kit. I've heard it called an umbrella bolt. I'm sure someone will chime in with the correct name so you can run up to HD or Lowes and pick it up.

James
Awesome info James. I will check out the bolt that you are talking about. I am thinking about hanging from the ceiling.

Update:
All of you were right about the ATI light fixture. I supported the fixture between two chairs and tested the PAR at 22 inches and it was about 450. I am sure sps would love this. Thanks for the PAR meter James. I hope to hang the fixture in the next couple of days.

I am not sure how much it would drop once I put it in the tank and the light passes through water any ideas?

Also
I have decided to change the caribsea substrate I had. I have ordered Tropic Eden reef flakes. Lets see how it goes.It should be here by Saturday.

Your very welcome, Manoj!

Just remember, your PAR will be highest at the very center of the fixture. As you move away from the center, the PAR will drop. A couple ways that you can increase the PAR when your tank is in action is through the use of the fans on the SP. The use of GAC also helps to improve water clarity which in turn increases the amount of PAR that reaches the sand bed. Cant wait to see your version of an SPS tank. Based on the success of your LPS tank, your colors are sure to be superior to mine!

Warmest Regards,
James

Thanks for the info James.

Finally was thinking about aquascaping and wanted to be creative with rockwork. Ordered Emarco400 for aquascaping the rocks.

Anyone have any experienced with Emarco400?

Hey bud, after I am done you can have the rest ,, the very nice thing is that when I first put water into the sand it was so clean it surprised me.

The last time I cleaned up caribsea it was a pain. This one looks like all it needs is a once or twice rinsing.

I will post a pic of the sand in a bucket of water for the first time to show how clean it is.

This weekend I will be mounting the lights and mid next week the sand will be replaced with new rock work. Meanwhile I will transfer the corals and the fish to frag tank and sump and let the system run.

You really are starting completely over. I admire your willingness to do it right. Still watching this one and can't wait to see what you do with your reef v. 2.0. This is going to be sweet for sure.

Sand all cleaned up. I was impressed with how clean tropic eden sand was. all it took was one time cleaning. I am getting some rocks from brs to try some creative rockscape. Also the Emarco 400 arrived today.

Very nice, Manoj!

Any idea how you plan on structuring your rock? Any chance it will look like my extensive rock work With that bright white sand it would be awesome to see some small islands that really support the growout of table acros. I'm really drawn to the clean modern look these days. I'm very excited to see some updated pics!

WR,
James

Hey James, I probably cant challenge your extensive rock work but seems like we both are thinking along the same lines. My tank is a 65 so I need to be creative and try to use the negative space as much as possible. Currently I am thinking of 1 medium and two small islands. The objective this time would be for the rocks to have a very small foot print on the sand. So for lack of a better terminology, the bottom of the rock will be small and the top of the rock will be big. In essence like an icecream cone. I dont know yet if I will be able to achieve it.

I might also use some large tonga branch on one side and the other two lslands may be rocks. But once I have all the rocks out my plan is to spend 6hrs coming up with the rock work and then the next 6 works getting the setup into my system.

Sunday is the day planned for this effort. By then everything should have arrived.

Something along these lines. But on a much lower profile and more spacious look. Will also try to get more color.
