General Rules
Member Account Information: Michigan Reefers permits only ONE account per member. If we identify that you have more then one account for any reason we will issue you a warning and may suspend all accounts or suspend you from the site permanently. Michigan Reefers will not alter or change any member names unless you e-mail your request to webmaster@michiganreefers.com with complete details to why you are wanting the name change. Member name change is only available to Premium Members. Abusive Posts: You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. Content: While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence the will not be held liable. E-Mail Address: The email address is used only for confirming your registration details and password, for sending new passwords should you forget your current one, and for direct contact from the Michiganreefers.com Board’s Webmaster, Moderator and Administrator and possibly, if you so choose, the board’s members. Newsletters may be sent on a weekly basis as a part of your membership to Michiganreefers.com Link Posting: Posting of other sites links will be permitted, but will have a assigned area of the forum. Absolutely NO vendor post allowed. If you are a drygoods/ Livestock vendor and wish to advertise your products please e-mail us at webmaster@michiganreefers.com If you are currently a sponsor or advertiser with us please direct all pricing back to your main site or you may want to advise the member to contact you via phone or e-mail. Signatures: Signatures may be allowed and disallowed at any time. If members start to abuse the use of signatures we have the right to remove violated signatures along with the ability to use signatures. Please follow the simple rules when using signatures. - No "objectionable" material - No bad language - Large banners or oversized images may be asked to be removed Objectional Material: What constitutes generally objectionable material shall be determined by the forum’s moderator with power of veto by the michiganreefers.com Board’s Administrator or Moderator. Private Messages: Private messages shall mean messages sent through the board’s Private message system. The board’s private message system shall not be used for any of, but not limited to, the following purposes, a) Sending unsolicited advertisements i.e. ‘SPAMING’ b) Soliciting or distributing material that is, abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. c) Conspiring to, Intent to or causing malicious damage. Private Messages are for your own personal use as a member of the board. Private messages may be purged or archived by the administrators to conserve space. Removal of Topics: You agree that the Webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic, and/or post at, any time should they see fit. Stored Data: As a user you agree to any information you have entered above and other information that may be collected being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt or software and/or hardware that may lead to the data being compromised. Spamming: Please do not spam our forums. Our Moderators, Webmaster & Administrator can track your machines IP Address for security reasons and are able to ban users that are spamming. Flamming: Absolutely NO Flamming. Our goal is to keep a flame free site to all our members. Flammers will be warned and could lead to a suspended account. Here at Michigan Reefers, we believe that dialogs between participants should be conducted in a friendly and helpful manner. If you disagree with a posting, please express yourself in a way that is conducive to further constructive dialog. Conversely, when you post on any given subject, you must be willing to accept constructive criticism without posting a hostile or inflammatory response. Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated. Please let’s work to insure that remains a friendly and flame free site where everyone, especially newcomers, can feel free to post questions without fear of being unfairly criticized. Posting Pictures in Forums: Michigan Reefers offers all our members the ability to upload various pictures. Please keep in mind that this is a Reef site when your posting pictures. We will not tolerate PORN or objectable material . Some non-reef related pics are acceptable in the Lounge area but can be removed if any violations occur. Photopost Photo Album & Member Gallery: Again please remember this is a reef site so keep this in mind when posting pictures. Michigan Reefers only allows reef related pictures to be posted in the album area. Selling/Trading Forums Rules: Please Note that in order to post in the selling & trading forums you must be a member for at least 30 days or have at least 30 post or 20 reputation points on our site. Once you have met the 30 day 30 post mark as a normal member status you are permitted to post 3 sales/trade threads per 30 days & 5 sales/trade threads per 30 for Premium Members. These policies were introduced due to members joining our community only for the purpose of "selling or getting out of the hobby sales" We are not an ebay of any sort and strongly recommend dedicated members uses these forums only. We have the right to change the post and date postamble(); conditions at any time. Random posting just to get your post count up in order to qualify in these forums "WILL BE MONITORED" ! Caught doing so will lead to site suspension or restricted access. In the past several months we have seen a vast increase of selling and trading of non-reef related items. Due to this we are going to ask everyone not to post non-reef related items in "ANY" of the forums including the Selling & Trading forums. These Forums are for selling & trading of hobby related items.Non-reef related posted in these forums will be removed. Also please note that items that are For Sale "MUST" be posted with a price in your thread or it will be deleted. Please Note that NO Freshwater sales are permitted in ANY of our forums. If you are repeatedly trading, selling or buying new & used equipment or livestock at a level judged my michiganreefers.com staff to be beyond normal hobbyist levels, repeatedly selling new & used equipment or livestock, having multiples of the same new item(s), or being able to "get anything" is a sure-fire way to have your post removed as "commercial."and may lead to account warnings or suspended privileges on michiganreefers.com. If you are solicited by someone selling items commercially please contact a Moderator or use the Report Post to Moderator link. If you are a commercial seller please feel free to contact webmaster@michiganreefers.com for details on Sponsorship opportunities. Links to auctions are not permitted. If you wish to offer a non-commercial sale here, the community appreciates that. However, advertising auctions is not what these forums were designed for. Likewise, Michigan Reefers encourages the sale and trade of items between hobbyists, but not for the resale of corals or equipment purchased for only that intent - that's not what these forums are here for. Also, once you have a website set up specifically to sell your frag's, begin accepting credit cards and/or have automatic web-ordering, you can figure we will judge you as a commercial enterprise. These are not discussion forums. If you wish to purchase or trade, please post. However, if you only wish to comment on the quality or price of someone else's trade/sale item, with no intention of buying/trading, please don’t post. This only sidetracks the thread away from the intent of the original poster - trading or selling their item. Please keep in mind that these forums are a service Michigan Reefers provides. Commercial Posting Policy: It is MichiganReefers.com policy to prevent unwanted sales solicitation occurring outside of the Sponsor Forums. Commercial threads and commercial replies to threads outside of the Sponsor Forum by vendors or vendor employees will be considered a form of solicitation. These posts will be deleted. Sponsors, and their employees, wishing to respond to such a thread can do so ONLY via a PM directly to the Michigan Reefers member. "However", responses by sponsors are permitted in the "Want To Buy" area of the site. In any situation we find that this system is being abused and price wars occur between sponsors, we reserve the right to either delete, edit replies, or remove this privilege at any time. Commercial responses are only permitted by MichiganReefers.com sponsors only. Following the above guidelines help make the forums more user-friendly, and certainly makes them easier to moderate.
