Default Spaghetti finger leather?

I have heard mixed reviews on this coral. Does anybody have anymore good info on these? I have heard they release chemicals which can harm other corals, is this true?

Maybe I'm not the best person to be answering but I've not had any problems in my little tank. I think if they get fairly large, then they might be an issue, but a couple of small ones in a smallish tank don't seem to affect anybody. I've only had them close to zoa's, and they don't seem to be affected much. Might be different with sps.

If there is a concern with the aquarium, I think running some carbon will take care of that.

Thanks so much for the reply. I had one once before for a short while and it didn't seem to hurt anything but I didn't know then that they can be a problem.

They do let off a toxic chemical if stressed or crammed to close to other corals. If you keep it with all softies there will be little problem, just run carbon and give everybody their space. It is more of a problem in a mixed reef as SPS are more sensitive to water qualities.

Leathers do tend to release toxins that bother SPS corals. Its called Allelopathy.

A carbon reactor, or even using activated carbon in a filter, and changing it monthly can and will help alot.
