Default Anyone Ever Buy Fish Online?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever ordered saltwater fish online from a LiveAquaria or other site? A lot of them give a 14-30 day guarantee on fish. I've only ever bought from local establishments but I'm wondering what some people's experiences have been with this. Anyone have any input?

Bad idea in general
I tried saltwater fish.com and it was a nightmare
Most will say don't do it

It depends on the site...some are more reputable than others. Saltwaterfish.com has a terrible reputation. Live Aquaria has a very good reputation and I have ordered from them without problems...as well as Blue Zoo Aquatics. Blue Zoo even paired 2 sets of fish for me to ensure I got a male and female.

Sure, I have a while back...
Local stores struggle why not try to help them out when you can. You may have to pay a few dollars more but there are plenty of other items than can be purchased online.

I order local, they hold them...treat for disease and you can make sure it is eating and doing well before bringing it home.
In most cases a local store can order whatever it is that you want.

Yes I have, I agree with others it's much better to support your local shop if you can.

The only way I would order fish online is if there was a guarantee the fish is 100% disease free and captive bred if possible. I don't believe anyone offers this.

I'd much rather support the local store and examine the fish in person. Making sure it's eating and appears healthy. I'm going to quarantine anything wet before it goes into my tanks anyways so why not see it in person prior to purchase. Also if there's a particular fish you're looking for most local stores will order it in as long as it's available.

I have bought online once before and it was okay. I only ordered a few fish and one was DOA. LiveAquaria honored their money back guarantee but the guarantee does not cover shipping which is very expensive.

If I could find a local store that does that I'd be happy. The store I went to back in the day is a bit of a hike for me now. There are a couple in my area that I've purchased equipment from recently but no fish yet. I'm going to stop in one day and ask about their fish processing prior to them selling. Thanks for the input guys.

I don't know of any fish store that can offer a disease free guarantee either, which is why quaranteening is important.

Not even LiveAquaria divers den fish are guaranteed disease free. They just say they are healthy when shipped.

Go to a local LFS and have them order what you want. They have access to all the wholesalers.

Try local. I used saltwaterfish dot com and it was miserable. One of the fish that was shipped to me barely had any water in it and was DOA.

Shop local for sure!

I have purchased fish from Divers Den (Liveaquaria) and had good success with it. However, I prefer to buy from my LFS. They can get exactly what I want and when I want it at the size I want. Then I can see the fish before actually taking it home. The suppliers of my LFS are quite good and I have been very happy with everything I've purchased from them (Fish Drs Canton).

The one advantage of buying/ordering from an LFS is that fish usually spend less time in transit and aren't stuck on a truck all day in the heat or cold.

Yup. Talk to Juan or Chris and they'll hook you up. Good dudes.
