Default Anyone want a hawkfish?

Well, despite the fact that I like this guy, I also like all the other fish in the tank. He was a great fish for a while. Now he thinks he is a T-rex, and since I have tried all the tricks at my disposal and none of it works, I really need to get him out of there. It makes no financial sense to let a $13 fish kill my $30 fish. I like him, but not that much more.

So, he is a Falco's Hawkfish, ~3'' long, great color, slight blue hue on some of his fins and tale. I don't have a pic (trying to get one). Ideally I would like to trade him for something (I am putting this here because I do not have access to the trading section) not sure what, but if you have a peaceful fish that is getting beat up we could help each other out. At the moment he is in solitary, and there he will stay until I figure out a plan.

Someone suggested putting in a couple Damsels to give him a run for his money, but I am not sure adding more aggression to the tank is what I need. I can foresee having to post another one of these messages detailing how I don't want a $2 fish killing my $30 fish.

So any tips would be nice, but like I said, I have moved the rocks several times (works for about a day now), placed him in solitary several times (seems to just make him angrier), even removed him from the tank for a bit and then put him back in as the "new" guy. To no avail. I am tired of disrupting the entire tank (the corals are getting mad, I can just feel it lol), he needs to go.

I'm sure someone will take him, but if not just take him back to the fish store.

Stressing him out trying all those things is probable not the answer.

Good luck

Well here is a follow up. Putting him in isolation worked like a charm. I left him in a floating in tank breeder for about two months. Kept him well fed, gave him a perch, and let him think about how he was behaving. All jokes aside I think he was just in there long enough for him to forget that it was his territory. Returned him to the general population and kept a close eye on him. He is now back to being a productive member of society, jumping from rock to rock living in harmony with his tank mates. I wouldn't recommend this for bigger fish, as a floating breeder is a pretty small space, but it certainly worked for this little guy.
