Default growth challange

Here are some pics of my frags they are all doing well the colors on them are awsome I dont think the camera does them any justice. All three have grown over the plugs.

Just a thought here. It is hard to see the comparative differences because most of the pics are all different sizes and angles. We should try to post pics that are taken from the same distance, size, and angle. That is the only way to get a 'feel' for any changes from just a photograph. I know that my first pics were on the sand bed, becasue that's where I put them when I fitst received them. They have been near the top in the same position for the last 4 - 5 weeks and my photos will show the same basic position so that any growth or change will be more apparent. Just throwig this out there so we can all try to compare apples to apples when we are looking at the progression.

For those that feel LEDs don't grow coral, I think that myth can be put to rest. I may not 'win' or have the most growth, but I can definitely see a change in the size of the new nodes that are coning in on the sides of the prostrata. I will post some progression photos next week

Good info Dale, I seen on another site they are using a standard ruler next to them in every pic.

I'm seeing similar growth on my prostrata, nice new nodes but no green I seen in other pics and thats high up under a 250w halide, well at least for one day than I will try not to cook them under leds, at least enough other people already have so I feel like I hopefully won't.... At least the chiller won't me running to maintain 80, may main reason for the switch....

Default first pic comp.

I just did a comparison of my corals from the first pic to the last as others have done wow what a difference in them and the others you just dont notice all the growth when you see it day to day. For our last pictures I think everybody should do the first pic and last pic deal to show the total growth and color changes.
What do you guys think?

Thumbs up

I think that sounds great and do a side by side like tdb just did, that really shows all the various improvements.

And your right about not seeing the changes I was just looking at my tank pictures from 6 months ago and I see some corals that are huge now and I knew they were growing but didn't remember the "nobs" they started as...

My camera stinks but they are coloring up nice. Not a lot of upward growth but encrusting on the plugs well. When that is done I believe they will take off.

Day After Start 3/25

On 4/9

On 4/29

On 5/11

5/23

Now 6/11

Can't wait to see the final results. And will anyone be fragging their frags? Or just selling them?

It seems the best way is to create a poll and let the entire MR populace judge.

Before a reefer can enter themselves on the voting "ballot" they must first be among the 5 (more?) individuals that experienced the MOST growth on their coral frags. Growth, as we decided upon earlier, must be determined by mL of displaced saltwater between Day 1 and the Final Day. Overall growth for an individual reefer will be the average displacement for all frags they started with (frags that died count as 0 growth).

-Final 5 Reefers with frags in the polls must provide a picture from Day 1 and another from Final Day so voters can SEE the growth, branching, and coloration of each frag and determine which reefer is their favorite fragger.

-Leave voting open for 1 week... reefer with the most votes wins.

Easy peasy. :0)
