When to replace filters on RODI unit
After abount a year, my TDS meter is now up to 12 ppm. At what point do I need to replace the filter components?

According to conventional wisdom, 12 ppm would be time to change. Some say anything over 5 is time to change. Just to clarify, you probably don't need to change your RO membrane unless it's a few years old (3-5). Just change the sediment, carbon, etc. Keep in mind that just changing your DI resin might be enough too. It's usually the first thing to wear out. Check your TDS going into your DI vs out; that should tell you whether it's the DI. |

changed with new issues
I changed all of the components in my system except the RO Membrane and it worked well for the first three weeks (approx 100 gal used total) it was down to 1 ppm at first. Then yesterday I checked during my water change and the PPM is now up to 8 ppm. Does this mean that my RO membrane is bad and also needs to be replaced? This unit is about 1 1/2 years old only. |

do you ever flush the membrane , it might just need a good flush . i have a valve on the waste line that allows me to flush the build up out of the membrane. just something to look into.

no valve
Mine does not have a valve to flush the membrane, but I will try to disassemble the RO housing and rinse it out the best I can and see if that helps. This one is supposed to continuously flush out waste on the waste line which is putting out like about 150 -200 PPM.

to flush without a valve is as easy as removing the flow restrictor in the waste water line and letting the unit run (without the restrictor in place) for about 15-20 min and then reinstall the restrictor.done
