looking for a DSLR

I have been told by a few people the Nikon D70 is like the top camera for most pictures is this still true? and of course in my price range. what else is out there that is good. do you have to have a digital lense or will the standard ones work.. thanks

i would definitly promote the d70 its an awesome camera. If you want cheaper you could find the d50 its really up to you.

yeah since $1000 for a camera is out of my league I'm looking at the D50 myself.

i have found the d 70 for like 650 with lense at a few places.. best buy. ritz camera....

I am looking at the D70 myself. Nothing on Ebay that is worth bidding on right now. I am hoping to find one a best buy or circuit city on sale.,

We have a D70 and love it. Always had Nikon Film SLR's before, so the lenses all fit, and the controls are all in the same place.

Onecall.com runs specials on it from time to time. In fact right now they have a "factory renewed" body (no lens) for $549. Have had only great experiences with onecall, great customer service.

Hmm good price - too bad I'd still need a lens since my 35mm Pentax lens wouldn't work with it.

do you notice a picture difference when useing a film lense or a digital lense.. they guy was trying to say there is a difference in the way the camera takes pictures... anyone notice this?

Yeah, but it's not that bad, the focal length of the lens changes because of the diffrence in size between the frame of film, and the digital sensor in the DSLR

from Nikon "Interchangeable F mount lens design accommodates a wide range of Nikkor lenses, type D and type G recommended. 1.5x multiplier applies to focal length.

But once you are used to it you don't notice, you just get used to it.

lol... is there a large difference between the d70 and d50?
