I've had 3-4 peppermint shrimp now (one at a time) and they always disappear very quickly. I've heard the 'stuck in a rock while molting' theory and I figured that's what must have happened the first time, then the second,... but at this point they can't ALL be getting stuck in the rocks. They...

Been sitting couple hours trying to catch this guy out oft DT. Just got my two babies blue spiny lobsters home. They looked awesome. I have to say that Tropic Aquatics did an awesome job getting the order for me and the price was also awesome too. They are in a container right now. Here are the...

I have a 54 gallon with various soft coral such as a leather, kenya tree, various polys such as waving hands and a grassy type coral. I am not having problems with them but when I purchased another soft coral, I was told (actually demanded) that I buy a product that would feed it iodide and that...

In the last week I have had an emerald crab and a skunk cleaner shrimp molt (not sure if this is the correct term so someone correct me if I'm using the wrong term). I know that they will naturally do this, but wanted to make sure this isn't a sign of something off in my tank that it has...

Got this two guys couple days ago and the spiny blue lobster trying to pick a fight with this two guys (Yellow Watchman Goby and Tiger Pistol Shrimp Pair) and the Tiger Pistol came out a winner. I had a pair of coral banded shrimp for a few months, and the female kept getting stuck in her molts and I would have to help pull the old skin off. She would loose a few arms and legs in the process, but would otherwise be fine. This happened three times. then she got stuck and I wasn't able...

I found the crab hiding space. lift up the rock and tried to grab him out with some forceps but it dug itself deep in the rock and i couldn't pull it out. anyone know a good way to get him out? It's a good size crab about the the size of a golf ball all bunched up. I was thinking about putting...

So about 5 of my ten hermits are acting very strange, a few of them have been upside down just retracted in there shells for days. Sometimes they will be upside down nibbling on a piece of crushed, but that's it. At first I figured they were molting because I seen a molt by a rock. Do they molt...

Just wondering if there is an easy way to tell if what I have been finding are from shedding or carcasses of my hermit crabs. I have found about three of them in the last few days and they seem a lot brighter than what I remember the shed exoskeletons from previous experiences. Of course so is...

So I was really irritated this morning after waking up to seeing my 2 day old cleaner shrimp have its leg and antenna half missing from an overnight attack. After about 2 minutes the shrimp balled up a little bit and started pulling off its skin like a coat. I franticly grabbed my camera but...

What do you do if your shrimp molts behind the rock and you can't get the molted skin out? Will it raise nitrates? Will worms/snails/other shrimp eat it? Just curious, if it is going to cause something bad I will have to move my rocks to get it out but I don't want to do that unless it's necessary!
