240g Tank Swap

Been saving up to replace my Clarity Plus 240 acrylic with Glass for a couple of years. Sold off most of the large fish and starting new. Dealing with new tank algae, but working on it. Replaced T5's with 120w x 4 LED's. Along with 2 x Sunbrite 6' LED royal blues.

Here's where I started with the 240 acrylic. Always had a hard time scraping the coralline and even had CarlitoFish scrape it and polish it professionally. Back to a mess one month later. Decided to go glass.

Inhabitant:
7 or 8 rbta's
crispa anemone
4 queen anthias (wish me luck)
diadema
10 occy's
purple firefish
lubbocks wrasse
2 yellow coris wrasse
Melanurus Wrasse
peppermints and cleaner shrimp
Yellow tail damsel
Hippo Tang
Softies(toadstools/zoas/palys)

So I moved all the anemones and soft corals to one of the two 100g tubs and disconnected the dt from the system. Only the Blue Hippo and yellow tail damsel are left.

Removed the old tank, cleaned it with vinegar and sold it.

Had to re-plumb the system to fit the new braces on the Great Lakes tank.

New tank is in. Great Lakes delivered it right on the stand.

Sand and water, up to temp and salinity:

Waited awhile to make sure there wasn't a cycle, put in live rock and corals and let er rip.

Rockscaped it a lot less dense this time. Plan on having more fish with more swimming room:

After seeing both tanks, in person, I have to say this new tank and everything about it is a huge upgrade from the last, even if the size didnt change.

The new tank is almost perfect.......some nice lobos, trachys, blasto wellsi, ect on the floor would be great additions. Maybe a gorg or 2, neon sinulara (or something similar) in the background with some height would look nice also.

I like your style, hoping to do the same type of deal with my 240, only I am thinking of going to a 300 in its place. I guarantee mine will never look as pretty and well done as yours does though. Nice job.

Thanks for the good words Folks! I appreciate it. Just added a blue eye Tang and a Star blennie. The tang is already eating and messing with the wrasses and the blenny is gone somewhere. One rbta is closed up. Sure hope he's not in there.
Wow, your tank is incredible! Great Job!

You'll love the Blue eye, i got on from RS too and i love the little sucker.
Great looking tank, nice and clean rock work. Enjoy it.
Thanks again, Folks.

Kevin, he's got some cool patterns and colors you can't see at the lfs. I was surprised.

Mc, I hope it's the same. That's the one I saw online. Has a blue eye, yellow body and faint blue trim around the edges as a juvenile. Turns blue later whenever it feels like it.

Thanks Chris! I agree that I need more on the floor. Just put some frogspawn under a rock. I would like to get back into the brain corals. Were my first way back and I'd like to do that again. Always thought they were cool.

Let me know if you like that beer.
