I am throwing in the towel, I have tried the fine grit sand paper method, I have tried Mcguire, I've tried novus. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Scratches are all out but still cloudy. It is just a 40 gallon cube and I would be happy to compensate if one of you can buff it, help me buff it, or show me how to buff it.
have you tried putting water in it since you've buffed out the scratches? I did the same thing to a tank I had a long time ago and no matter how many times I buffed it, it remained hazy. So I just set it up and when it had water in it, the haze was gone.
I just finished doing one that had deep scratches and came out great.
Go to Home depot and get the following items
800, 1000, and 2000 Wet/Dry sandpaper and a good palm sander not rotary or velcro disk the square one. If it dosent have deep scratches you can skip the 800
4 Micro fiber cloths
spray bottle
Go to O'rileys Auto Store and get the
Drill buffing wheel (foam) its like 8 bucks
MCguires PlaxticX
Procedure
1. prepare spray bottle with 1 drop of detergent and spray working area.
2. Sand tank with 800 Grit
3 Microfiber 1 clean
4. Take a break, drink a beer and relax as it is tedious.
Repeat 1-3 for 1000, 2000 grit using a different Microfiber cloth.
Final step is the fun part, get a high speed drill, Plug in if possible. put plastix on sponge buffing wheel and spread out on the surface area so it dosent spray everywhere and buff and use final cloth to clean. It will come out crystal clear.
