Hey all, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'm bored and thought I'd get yall's opinion on this.

I'm looking for a few pieces of kinda unique rock to start a SPS frag garden on. I found what I want but it's dead ( base rock). Can I add a few pieces of this, about 4lbs to a 90 gal with a 30 gal sump and be ok? Tank is well established.
Thanks

Your tank won't cycle, but the rock will. If there is anything on it as far as organics usually it will grow some algae.

I would just rinse the rock off with fresh water very well. As long as you trust the source and know that no bleach or other chemicals were used, a couplefresh water dips to get the debrie off will help. As mentioned above, the tank will not cycle with that little of rock being added but, the rock will go through a cycle.
