Will doing a lights out on a tank for 2-3 days have any positive affect on the killing of Caulerpa?

It probably won't kill it completely, but you will definately have some die-off, and it will take a few days I'm sure for it to get back to "normal" when the lights are back to your regular schedule.

the only bad thing ive noticed about caulerpa is that even if it dies with the lights out, once the lights come back on it will reappear. When I had my 10g nano setup i had some rock that had caulerpa and the only ray i could get rid of it was boiling the rock. Another option if you tank is big enough is some type of tang or rabbit fish that would eat it.

That's a tough question if it will hurt the SPS - my guess it might stress it.

I would not go longer than 3 days with lights off.

However, I dont know if with lights off will kill the Caulerpa 100%.

Our tanks are not like the worlds oceans, obviously.

What I'm trying to say - there are days where the ocean doesn't see sun, because of severe storms.

Try some natural way of getting rid of the Caulerpa -fish etc.

Good luck with that - keep us posted
