aptasia and majono anemone removal for noobs

just wanted to share my progress with ridding my tank of aptasia and majono anemones. my girlfriend works at a hospital so i had her bring me home a syringe needle from work. put some hydrogen peroxide in, stuck the needle in the base of the pest and shot a little into each one. they instantly shriveled up and began to bubble. this worked very well and fast. they all died within a couple hours. the next day i could not find any traces of them at all. they died, nothing else. my water was still great after the dose. for the people who dont know, a syringe and 54 cents bottle of peroxide at walmart could rid your pest problem in a day.

Hopefully it stays that way and you dont get some poping up in a week or two.
I agree with Jessie - they are tough little buggers. You will likely get a few recover and pop up in a week or two.
Will peroxide kill anything else in a reef tank other than aptasia?
+1 on nineball's question. Be nice to find something cheaper than aiptasiaX or Joe's.

I've heard boiling tank water but it's tough for me to keep it 'boiling' when injecting into the tank...
another +1 on that question!
i really wanna kill some of these buggers and bad. i have been snipping them with scissors removing the detached portion, they come back in a week.

i was gonna post an add today seeing if anyone would let me use their aptasia zapper.

sorverjas actually did post a thread asking this a week or two ago, might want to look back through and see what responses he got. I dont remember off hand.
just looked on the rocks and 1 is still kicking. it was the biggest one and its stem is in a hole in the rock. very hard to get his stem. cant see it at all. but he is not looking good. he wilted. as for question of harming others in the tank, i have what i believe to be great star corals on a few of my rocks. in fact there is one withing 6" of this giant aptasia. i doesed it twice and they are all doing fine, 1 ml each dose.
Peroxide will kill hair algae, and there's time people have actually dosed it in there tank although it's not recommended because we can't assume it just kills bad stuff. You can treat rocks out if the tank however.

I have never heard of injecting aptasia's with it, I've always used lemon juice and it's worked good for with minimum number popping back up and those I probably just didn't stick good.
so ive read that using a mini torch to burn them to crisp works pretty **** well. what if i use my butane soldering iron? or go buy a butane lighter?

Um. As long as you take them out of the water. Otherwise wear some thick rubber boots with that soldering iron.
like i said its not electric its butane powered so there is no electrical threat. anyways i picked up the rock cranked the soldering iron up to full and fried those F*&^%!!!! i will be in awe if they pop back up these things got a good 30 sec of extreme heat each. the heat was so intense all of the coraline in the vicinity is now bright orange. but my xenia that was half an inch away is fine. will update with long term progress.
