I just picked up the hyper flow. It ssems to work pretty good. I wanted to use it for a diy skimmer and use a modified bio ball for a pin wheel but that obviuosly won't work with the new impeller design. But it is pretty quiet and does a good job.

OOOPS:eek: I didn't even look at the link. I've heard the same thing about them not wanting to restart too. Mag's are nice but they suck the juice and contribute their far share of heat. What size tank/overflows do you have on your tank? I'm going to switch to the sequence pumps soon.

I'm Not sure on the mags. They don't seem to have alot of head pressure. Put mybe I should look at the bigger models. I have a mag now and it seems really loud. So I guess I will have to look around some more. I have the same proplem with smaller rios. Don't want to restart. I have a rio pump right now and I can't figure out why it stopped working. Power went out a couple of times and would never refire up. I can't even use the thing to mix water up! So I'm not really happy with that!

I have been using a hf 32 about a year now. Pump has always stared but the flow from pump is never consistent. Dealing with a very loud and heat producing Mag 32 at the moment. Happy with the mag 18 i'am using as a return. Only had that about a month.

I won't buy or use a rio ever again. I don't care if it's free. I can accept getting shocked once from the seal cracking or separating from the housing, but two and three times were enough to make me throw mine away. CHEAP. You pay for what you get, and I can't imaging even risking my tank again. If you are going to use one of these, make sure you have a grounding probe in each body of water to protect yourself.
