its disgusting that someone stood there with a camera and took a picture instead of doing something to prevent that.

I must admit, that did make me laugh. And yes maybe someone should have done something, but maybe they were just taking pics and didnt think they would fall in. But from the setting that the picture reflects, that may have been the lesser of one of many evils that could happen for ducks in city life. ur dog or cat could have made lunch of them. JUST remember, a wise fish once said "all drains lead to the ocean"

Yes we may have "put" things like this in the environments, but it is now our environment, like it or not. We are growing at such great spped, we destroy the places that they lived in the first place. BUT they are animals and they adapt very well, just like the geese they will do fine, hopefully they dont get out of hand like the geese do, but if they do I can help do my part every year to try and keep numbers down:)

Its funny, plain and simple. Since all of us here own and care for at least a few living creatures I'm sure none of gets pleasure from torturing animals. Some of you seem wound just a wee bit to tight!

Yeah I agree
After all we all keep animals in little glass boxes dont we?
I love animals more than alot of people I know. I have a dog, a parrot and 2 reef tanks, which I pretty much dedicate my whole life to as I dont work.
Its rather ironic that another thread posted today wants to nuke the middle east
Might kill a few baby ducks doing that eh?
I'm sure that in reality no one would really want to nuke anything anymore than I would like to see those baby ducks fall thru that grate.

Oh I'm sure there are plenty that want to kill every person from the middle east. Ironically, the people that took over the Russian school were rebels from their country, some of whom may practice Islam, not actual Middle Easterners. But that is neither here nor there. Things die every day.

I would not consider myself wound too tight. I just have always been for the under dog. I also feel bad for animals that have had their homes destroyed.

It is one of those questions where I ask when is enough enough?

How much further can we go with expansion before the opposite effect occurs?

Is there a thresh hold to all of this impact we have on the world around us and when we reach it what will the total effect be?

True we have already forced many animals from this earth never to be seen again, just to have some houses or a mall somewhere. But the majority of animals adapt very well to this. Some move further away and some make themselves right at home, sometimes in our home. If the picture was 3 years old or 3 days old, that will not make a noticable difference on the population. It could be that a few duck hunters each get one less duck this upcoming season.
