What is the proper way of using baking soda to increase the PH of RO water? I have been adding a tablespoon of reefchem PH booster per 5 gal RO before adding salt at water changes. Do you need to add anything else? Is this safe for reef tanks? Is anyone doing this instead of spending $8.99 per jar for PH booster?

Do a search on reef central.
I believe you need washing soda to bring up ph and baking soda to bring up alk.

Oh yeah-you dont have to adjust ph before adding salt-the salt mix will adjust your ph.

Magnesium

Interesting article! I have never added Magnesium suppliments. Maybe that is why I get such slow growth on my SPS and LPS, and mushrooms. Has anyone ever used Epsom salts to increase Magnesium?

No, i use a magnesium supplement. But epsom salt should work. Just never tried it.
Just follow Randy's recipe.

i have heard that epsom salt works(and i use it) but to be careful and make sur you test for it because it is magnesium sulfate and is less stable than magnesium chloride which is the store brand stuff.
