I am going to use this Tubing for my returns. My Question is do I really need assembly pliers or can I just snap them together? I was looking in foster &smith and they don't even sell the pliers for 3/4" I am going to use 1/2" though.

it takes some muscle... but you can always use regular pliers... just don't squeeze too hard.

You are referring to Loc-Line correct?
If that is the case I put my together with my hands.
I will say that it does require quite a bit of force to get them together.
Another option is go to the fish store that you frequent and see if they will let you borrow theirs.
If they won't let you take it home for the night, bring your pieces there.
