Title says it all, who makes the best reef salts? ie; red sea, neomarine, etc...

i have only used 2 salts in my reefing career. i have to say that between reef crystals and salinity, i like salinity better. seems to keep a more stable pH and keeps my Mg nice and high, calcium levels are pretty equal between the two. i just wish salinity would dissolve a little better during mixing. but a very minor problem for a great product.

IMO
I've used Reef Crystals, Tropic Marin, Tropic Marin Pro, Instant Ocean. Of them all I use Reef Crystals. I dose like crazy anyway so I dont care what the levels are as long as its close and consistent. Never had a problem, its cheap, its stable, and its available everywhere. Tropic Marin was very low in Mg which is why I dropped it.
I'm a RC guy myself. Always good results and can't beat $45 for 200g box shipped to my door
Heard a lot of good thing about ESV if you don't mind going threw the process to mix everything, a lot of guys use regular Instant Ocean, no organics in it like it's cousin Reef Crystals so it's a nice clean mix that stores good as well.

The Tropic Marin salts have really gone down hill. First buckets of pro reef where showing up with the alk at 4.5 dkh (I got two) than I switched to their regular sea salt and there's hardly any mag like mentioned above.

I blended three salts to get me by but when it's gone it's either regular IO or I may try a few rounds of Salinity if I can find a decent price.

Red sea pro is good salt but the alk is way to high for the way I'm running my system but works good for other guys.

I think a lot is just personal preference and IO is the base to a lot of the salts out there.
+1 for Seachem Aquavitro Salinity, and as for the best price I have found is at Key's Pets for $75.00 for (225lb 5-6 gallon container with screw on lid) if your a reef club member and $85 if your not.
Other than that, I have used Reef Crystals and think Salinity is a more stable well blended mix. I have heard a lot or others swear by Reef Crystals and the Brightwell salt mix. I don't done grade either and think they are both quality salt mixes.
Salinity by Aquavitro, I've never had a problem with it not mixing.
+1 For Aquavitro Salinity. This salt mix makes my corals really happy. They swell up after a WC. I have not found that it does not mix well, but it does leave a heavy film on my mixing bucket.

The 225g bucket for that price is not too bad. You need to consider that this salt mix at 225g is at 1.026 vs reef crystals 160g is at 1.022 (I think, I don't have a bucket at work with me, but I know it is not as high as AV salinity).

As for the price. I got mine at Kees as well and with the pet club they beat most prices online. Also, you can go online and google kees pet coupon and get a $10.00 any purchase of $50.00 or more and save even more money.

PS. Its one heavy bucket.

Once you switch, you won't go back.

It is a shoulder breaker of a bucket :)
Salinity has a lower ca than RC. If you like to keep the Ca around +450 you will need to blend it with some RC. Thats what i have been doing for the past 6 months.
I use BioSea marine mix. Anyone have an opinion?

Hi I just ordered from Blue Fish Aquarium the 225 gal bucket it will be here Friday and only $80, they have smaller ones in stock. Will give it a try for my spa tank. I really liked the D-D pro salt, but cannot get it local and its expensive.
Aquavitro Salinity 1050 gallon Mix

This has got to be the mother of all salt buckets, its 1050 gal and weights 300lbs. See Link below, if I buy one from Blu Fish Aquarium will they deliver is the big question.

Salinity on average is 425-435 depending on the scoop and I prefer my calcium to be as close as possible to NSW which is 400-420.
