I just have to brag a bit. Today when I came home from work, my Bubble Tip Anemone, which I have had for a little over a year, split into two clones. I purchased the bta from the Trop, and I could not even get the think to form bulbs. I did not do anything specific, that I know of. I definitely did not try any drastic measure I have heard of. Just simple TLC, and loads of patience.

I will try to get a picture.

Thanks everyone. I will have to pass out cigars now.

I will take a picture, but tonight my refill setup ran out of water and the tank needs to calm before the anemones look good.

I did not see any signs before hand, but I have been working long hours and I have not been home in time to see the tank with the lights on in a week or so. My fiance` said she saw signs, but did not want to tell me and then jinx it. She said that it grew extremely large for a couple days. But that was it. No hiding in the back on the tank or any of the usual signs.

The only change to the tank recently was that I cut a few leathers from the rocks they were attached to so I can sell them. The toxins from doing so may have caused a bit of stress that may have contributed to the anemone splitting. Or, maybe it just decided to split. Who knows.

I know that I did not attempt to force a split by over feeding or rapid changes in water parameters. I don't agree with those tactics for the harm to the anemone and the harm to other corals/inverts. I just hope that the two clones do not kill any of my corals, other than those the original has already killed.

the more you feed a bta the more it'll split. i was raising btas last year while feeding krill shrimp three times a week. they were under 6watts/gal of vho lighting. i was taking 20bta's to the swap meets and was selling to LFS's in lots of 4.
