button polyps

I have a 30 gal reef tank. Its been established about 6 mos.
I added a live rock with a colony of button polyps (zoanthus)
4 mos ago, They have been florishing, even multiplying,
until last week when they didnt open as usual. They have been closed for a week. The water chemistry is good except
the nitrate level was up over 30. I have lowered this to 10
with water changes and Amquel+. will this nitrate level
cause the polyps to not open? or is there another possible suspect? I have skimmer and a emperor filter.

Thanks for any help

The nitrate level probably shocked them. Give them a couple of days and continue water changes.
