I have been in the hobby for year now and just a few days ago my friend found a super cheap super easy way to fix pH. Simple as can be, connect the air line for your skimmer to a line and run that line out side. Within hours as the oxygen rises and the co2 falls you will see your pH rise to 8.3 or very close to it and your corals will open up bigger then ever before. Before doing this my pH was between 7.9 and 8.04; now I'm sitting at 8.2 within an hour of doing this.

I did it with pvc I had around and added in a air stone and air pump to make sure I was really getting good airation.

I wouldn't expect CO2 to be an issue beyond late spring anyway unless you never leave the house. Doors are usually open longer, windows get opened on nice days, etc. Once the weather turns nice I'd bet you could unplug the line without ill affect.

The airstone is an interesting option. Likely not necessary but if it makes you happy.

Activated carbon will indeed absorb pesticides. It's the most expensive option compared to simply unplugging, and you have no reliable testing procedure to know if the carbon is saturated or otherwise compromised. The punch while you're down, I'm not convinced it'll be reliable on the vast array of synthetics we dump to advance our own agenda's. Best of luck as they say.
