Last night I bought a cleaner (neon) Goby because my tang was starting to itch a bit, although I dont see any white spots on him. This little guy was at most 3/4" long, you could hardly see him. Well after I released him into the tank my clowns (about 1.5") seemed interested him, but like he was food (thewy had already been fed too). I watched for a while and all seemed well. But last night and today, I have not seem the little guy. IS it common for them to get eaten? I really didnt buy him to be a $20 meal!!!

It is common for them to HIDE. You may NEVER see it. When it feels comfortable, it will come out. It took about a week before mine started coming out. Thought I'd never see it either. Now I know it likes to hide behind the overflow box. Mine comes out at feeding time usually, but it will also hang around if I'm fussing with the tank as it "thinks" it's feeding time.

Don't worry, just give it time.

I wasnt sure, being so small I figured it could hide anywhere and not be seen. Kinda like my serpent star I have never seen him out since I put him in the tank, although I have seen glimpses of him on occasion.

Did you have the tank uncovered? or any open water areas? I have had two of those leap out of the tank. Both jump the instant I opened the lid to add food. Maybe they saw my hand and were rushing up to clean it.....I don't know. But it is like they were waitng for the top to open to escape.

I think they are awesome little fish, but for me they always end up on the carpet. And it REALLY stinks when you start adding up what they cost / pound!

When he feels safe, he will be out all the time begging for food. I love my little guy because he I am convinced he recognizes me as his caregiver. He has a lot of character. I also know he recognizes my two year old because if I hold him in front of the tank, the fish disappears until the boy is gone. It took my son a while to learn not to pound on the tank. LOL.
The fish will come out in a few days if not before.
