I have a clownfish that I purchased with a BTA at the same time. The clownfish had never seen the BTA prior to simultaneous introduction to my tank. Within about 30 minutes of adding both to my tank, the clownfish instantly took to the BTA. When the BTA opens up, it is probably around a good 6 inches or so.

Since then, I've added another, much smaller anemone, but I didn't know what type. When this anemone opens up, it might be around 2 inches or so. Lately, this anemone has been looking not too good and is all shrunken up the last 2 days. It is barely an inch across sometimes.

The funny thing I saw today was the clownfish trying to swim around/inside the new anemone. In the shrunken state, there is barely enough to cover the fish's head! But he is still trying to wiggle in the anemone.

Before, the fish rarely ventured far away from his original BTA. Now, he swims half way across the tank to try and host the other anemone too. It is still preferring the "mansion" sized BTA, but he likes to vacation in the "summer cottage" too. [D]

Is this uncommon? I thought that once a fish finds their favored anemone, it's home sweet home. I feel like the clownfish is being a two-timer [-devil]

When I was stocking my 180g with fish I got a mated pair of Yellow stripe Maroons with a BTA, then I got a mated pair of Saddlebacks with a BTA. Well the stress of going into my tank caused the BTs to start splitting and the next thing I knew I had six BTAs about 4 months later, and the Yellow stripe female tried to keep all six to herself[-bigeyes]. Even if the Anemone was all the way on the side of tank. She would kick the Saddles out of their Anemone. She was the meanest fish I have ever had[}}-|>>].

I have since gotten rid of the female Maroon cause she was always knocking over any new coral I put in tank. She was the largest Maroon clown the fish store I took her to had ever seen. It was amazing how big of a colony or rock she could tip over or carry around. She killed several corals that way. She would push one SPS colony onto another and they would sting each other and some would not recover. I tried to catch the male, but he's alot smaller and quicker and can hide in the rock easier. He sticks with his one Anemone and leaves the Saddles and their Anemone alone. I also got rid of the other 4 Anemones so there is only the two now.

What kind of clown do you have skylergirl?
