I bought a hippo tang last Monday. He's been in my quaranteen tank with copper (levels correct, checked couple of times already). He is doing awsome, moving about, eating. He shows no visible signs of disease (didn't when I bought him). However, he does scratch against the live rock quite a bit (also did this when I bought him).

MY question is how long should I quaranteen him in a tank that is being treated with copper. Most books say at least 2-4 weeks. But this is without medication. I don't really think I need to quaranteen him more than 2 weeks when actively being treated with copper. I'm anxious to put him in my main tank. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

The scratching indicates ich...I would wait at least 2 weeks and see if he shows any signs, then go from there and see if you need to keep him in there longer.
