i found the reefcentral thread of the chemical that got released when a dsb dies.
at the frag meet i was telling the story of my buddy putting 5gal worth of my old sand bed into a bucket and sealing it with an air tight lid. he left it at his house for a couple days then i went over there to help him with something else. he opened it and we were both looking at it wondering if anything lived. i told him to just take a sniff. he bent over and took the deepest breath and stood straigh up, eyes widened and he just staggered back. it was funny as hell. i'll never forget the blank look on his face. i was laffing and said i guess nothing lived.
hahaha! i'm laffing just rememebering that.
