Well I have a 33" tall orange sponge that I have kept alive for almost 8 months now. well the top part is starting to die. If anyone has a use for this sponge they can have it. But you have to bring your own container (remember its 33" tall and like 4" wide). I will supply the sw in wich the sponge is living in as this tank is going to be converted back to fw sometime in the near future. The top 6" or so is turning really white. heck if someone wants to try and save it by all means try =].

yes you could lay it across the tank. The tank it is in is 36" tall and with the sand in the tank the sponge almost touches the top of the water. I currently have it laying down though as I just got rid of a bunch of live rock so the water lvl went down which would have put the sponge out of the water. I did lay it down before removing the lr because I knew this would happen. I would think a large garbage bag may be enough to take it home in but you may want to find a styrofoam container from a lfs or something to put it in. I dont know if you trim the top dead parts off if it will keep it from dying further or not. I have a purple sponge that I have had for around a year now and it is growing in size. but I just could not get this orange one to thrive.

If you cut it below the dieing part you most likely will be able to save the rest from dieing
thats good to know but I still want to get rid of it to anyone who wants to try =].

if someone comes pick it up its free. I wont supply the container to take it in but whatever you use it has to fit in a 18" by 6" hole in top of my tank. so basically a garbage bag. I am willing to keep the bag full of water for the sponge =].
