Does anyone know if theres a significant difference between the Euroreef CS6-1 and ES5-3? Also looking at an ASM-G2, can't justify the Deltec or Bubble king yet!

I'm assuming the only real difference is that the ES series uses cheaper acrylic. If it matters, it will be going on a 90gallon All Glass corner tank.

A CS 6-1 is 6" in diameter and a 5-3 is 5" in diameter.....

The CS Series are hand crafted with premium cast acrylic tube and vacuum formed parts along with 3/8" thick PVC Sheet material and custom PVC parts which are welded together with sophisticated hot air welding technology.

The RS Series protein skimmers are the latest addition to the peerless line of Euro-Reef products. These skimmers are fabricated with the highest quality cell cast sheet and tube material in combination with custom designed and formed plastics. Identical in design and performance to the world famous CS Series, the RS Series has established a new benchmark for quality, performance and price all in one unit

The primary difference is that the CS Series are hand crafted with cell cast acrylic tube and are welded to 3/8" PVC plate while the ES Series protein skimmers are hand crafted with extruded acrylic tube and glued to cell cast acrylic sheet material.

The ASM skimmers are an excellant alternative to euro-reef... from everything i've been told they work just as well and are a lot cheaper....... www.roesmarineworld.com has the best prices on asm skimmers that i've found....

Thanks for the reply, I should have been more specific.

For a 90g tank, would the ES5-3 be plenty or would I just be much better off going with the CS6-1 or ASM G2?

I know euroreef underrates their skimmers, so the ES5-3 should be good. Just wondering if the CS6-1 skims a significant amount more? Or is just priced more because its made with better materials, and a bit wider (though shorter).

I have a friend that is running an es5-2 on a 55 gallon with a 100 gallon sump..... he empties his skimmate every day or every other day. I run a CS 6-1 on a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump and have to empty once a week....... I honestly think my 6-1 should have the sedra 5000 pump....
I was going to buy the asm G2 for my 90 gallon........ till I found the CS 6-1 used at a good price
I am in process of upgrading my tank..... and I'll probably buy an ASM G3 or a G4

If you are buying new........ I'd go with ASM

ASM are ok I have one on a customers 300g. They function exactly like the euro reefs but its a carbon copy so its no suprise.

The only real problem's I had with the ASM is no instructions at all (for the height of water recommended around them) and the fine craftsman ship of euro reef is not there. Like for instance I have had problems with the pumps slipping off because the fittings were to loose:mad:

All in All still a great skimmer for the price!

Thanks for all of the replies everyone.

Acerhigh, if you're upgrading tanks, are you planning on selling your skimmer? Would much prefer to buy used.
