The scourge of a 12 inch tank! I couldn't think of a good way around it so I went MH. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.
DIY canopy
I making a canopy for my 55 and I'm putting a a 4 bulb ho t5 system in it so my problem is they each have their own reflector and when mall of them are side by side it is a little over 14 inches when the actual depth of the tank is only about 13 so is there a good way to make the hood a little bigger then the tank or should i just bend in the reflectors a little?

i would trim the reflectors. bending is going to reflect the light at a less efficient angle.
