in my browsing of cheap Chinese black box options I ran across these lights.

Can be chained together and controlled through a single controller. seems a step up from a regular black box but still cheaper than a named brand light.

Not too bad.

I have these over my 75 gal now. Not too bad. I am realizing though that LEDs still have a long way to go before they can approach the specs of MHs and T5s. RBTA has not bubbled since I put these over the tank. They do ok in there, but just never bubble. Frogspawn/hammers are my favorites, and their tentacles don't really grow much. Could be my water quality which is not the best, but when I had PC+MH everything grew like mad. With these, things look pretty, but the growth is not there. Hope this helps. I am honestly thinking about moving these downstairs and trying to use them as plant grow lights and getting my old MH+PC fixture back up and running!
Imlay city is not too far from Midland. Maybe we can meet up sometime to chat. I have not been on this board in a while. Wheel has turned and I am getting active in hobby again.

Thanks for the info on DSuny. I ended up ordering the Current USA IC Loop lights. I know they're underpowered for SPS but Im not going that route anyway (at least until I get more experienced). Good to know DSuny doesn't suck.
ya, it would be good to get together. I don't know anyone who has a reef aquarium.

look into reef breeders. I have been using them for many years, just recently upgraded to their v2 photons. very nice.
