Just wanted to give the "thumbs up" for the store Tanks A Lot. I was just there yesterday.

I think it was Bill who helped me. But upon his recommendation, I purchased a Neon Dottyback as he said it would help control the bristle worm problem I'm having.

The store is nice. With a couple large coral display tanks.

The price was very good on the fish ($23.00) and it was tank raised.

I didn't look at the drygoods very much. Can't comment on the prices of that stuff.

I'd probably go there again, though it's a hike from Ypsilanti. They do not give any special discounts for us MIreefers [-boggled] I tried.

Actually its Trenton =) Right on the edge of Westland. And Sunny is right, it is in the same shopping center as Pizza Hut. There is a Target there as well in the back. If you need, I can get you the exact address so you can MapQuest it if you'd like. =)

What about dry goods?

I never really took notice of the prices on the dry goods. I only have a 20 gal tank, so I don't go through dry goods too quickly.

One thing I did notice is they tend to have the cheaper test kits. They carry the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Saltwater Master kit, which I bought at PetSmart when I first started out. This kit is worse than not having one at all. I wish they at least carried Seachem. Who carries Salifert locally?

The drygoods are priced well, we buy from there quite frequently. The great plus is that the owner is a very nice guy and is willing to talk to you and help in any way he can. I've been eyeing his nano tanks, $100 includes everything needed for a nice curved glass 12g. *drool* One day, I say!! One day!! Caper had to drag me out of there the other day, but I got a pair of black percs *GRIN* So, that is my Christmas present I think! =)

And sorry it is Trenton/Woodhaven. I guess the Westland came from being at HJMTV's house too much, hehe. Sorry about the confusion!!!

What kind of other fish do you have in your tank. Neon Dottybacks are ferocious. It there are any fish he doesn't like, the Dottyback will terminate it. The target fish won't know what hit him.

Bristle worm problem? Why? 99% of bristleworms are beneficial to reef aquariums.

If you don't like bristle worms, a 6 line wrasse might have been a better choice.

Good luck with your dottyback. Hope he's an exceptionally nice one. You have a better chance of that if it was captive bred.

I'm with Alberio... ixnay on the ottybackday and I have no issues with any of my bristle worms... though I am not keeping clams as Sunny is. When it comes to bristle worms, you must ask yourself "can a bristle worm move faster than a fish?" The answer is a resounding "NO." Therefore, we can deduce that bristle worms are "opportunists." In other words, they eat what has already perished, or is to sick to move any longer... except Sunny;s clams. A Dottyback is one of the few fish that will run a damsel out of town... enough said.

Here is the stores address - 19113 West Rd, Woodhaven, 734-676-8057. That 12 gallon Nano cube is really nice with filtration, JBJ compact fluorescent lighting, and a flip top canopy too. His display of it got me tempted to get one for my desk at work. Nice clean store and tanks, and the owner does offer a membership for a 10% discount. He is about a mile from me and I was thrilled to have a new LFS so close to home now. I was making many trips to Pet Connection and Captive Reef to get items.

I am a frequent shopper here. It is closest to me. I have to say they have been great. I bought my 2 tanks from there, and I got a GREAT deal. If there is anything I want, Whatever I name he will special order it for me and give it to me cheaper then what other would pay for it. When I say I am there frequently I mean 2-3 times a week. I know everyone by name. They all know me by name. The young men that work there have helped me a great deal, while I have been starting my saltwater tank. I have hit or miss with some of my fish. the majority of them are still doing fine. They really know there stuff. Occationally I get a line of bull from the owner, but I know better. When I say bull I mean that, he is say a tang (the size of a quarter) can go in my 46. He is right it can, but eventually it will need more. When I set my tank up he helped me cycle it and everything. They have a pretty good selection. i have checked his prices with others, and they are all about the same. I have to say overall, since this is the closest place to me it is great. I think if you live in the woodhaven/dowriver area you should just take a peek. See what you guys think.

Thanks for reading,

Leopard
