Well ive been in the hobby for awhile but been out of it for a little and never really had many issues, I have just set up a new 72g corner for the last 3 wks I seen to be getting algae growth on the sand even after I mix up the sand a couple hrs after turning light on the algae is back.I am only using a temporary 2 bulb t5ho til my led gets here. All my levels test great why so much growth its even on my rock

Yes, I've had similar issues lately and I'm currently using the same type of fixture you are. Here's what I was recently told possible issues could be.
1. phosphate levels
2. The use of non-aquarium bulbs- I'm guilty here. (until I also upgrade to LED)
3. Inadequacy in water flow- I'm also guilty here.

Is the algae your getting cynobacteria (red slime algae), detritus, or other?

algae

Im not sure what kind of algae it is but its like a pinkish brown and now I have my leds running and it still returns daily even after I mix up the sand and I definitely have no good water flow im currently waiting for my power heads.the algae also has lots of air bubbles in it which seem to constantly rise up out of the algae, whats going on here lol

Im starting to think its due to my waterflow my tank has cycled all levels are ideal, also as far as mixing up my sand ive always done that using gravel siphon to remove waste has proven to be a good system for me.my last setup went 2 yrs without any fluctuation in any of my water parameters.but to be honest I ordered my wavemakers and there were lost during shipping and I am still waiting for replacement s so basically no water flow other than a canister and skimmer. Thats what I think anyways well see when wavemakers get here
