I have Hair Algae, I got some rock with some hair algae on it, scrubbed it off and it is still there and it's starting to spread and get out of control. I can even see it in my sand now. I tried sucking it out and it is not working.

Can I get a Foxface/Rabbitfish to help control this?
Do Foxface/Rabbitfish work for hair algae?
Anyone with experience or advice on the situation or fish?

I have 2 tangs in the tank and they won't even look at it.
I like the Foxface Lo but would prefer a Bicolor Foxface because it gets 7" max.
This is in my 300 so I have lots of room for him.

Should I get him or shouldnt I! LOL

Thanks

I forgot to mention that my Kole And Blue Tang have only been in the tank for two weeks now. But I don't know if they will eat it.

Thanks again

There is a little nudibranch that eats hair algae. Pretty much nothing else does. People will post and say this creature or that worked for them, but it is real hit or miss. HA is an evil little bugger. My virgate rabbitfish could care less about eating the HA. Some urchins will eat it, along with any other algae in the tank, including Coralline. Hair algae roots go deep into most liverock and they broadcast spawn. It can literally grow inches in a day. It is funny that you post this thread, because last night I came unglued and removed all the liverock from my tank and put it in the unlighted sump to get rid of the hair algae. I currently have my corals up on plastic. Looks a little sterile, but no ##[email protected]#@$#$ hair algae. heheheheheh.

If you do get the lettuce nudibranchs, get a whole bunch of them. They're small and don't eat a lot fast. Keep pickin at the HA, try to pull out as much as you can and then use trimming scissors to get it as far down as possible. I've got a little bit of this stuff too...it ***** really bad. Also, I noticed that if you stick HA directly under a MH it grows more slowly....just a thought.
