I've been using a few different types of food to try and feed this bugger and nothing has worked Cyclopeeze didn’t work, my homemade recipe didn't work, and brine shimp didn't work. I've tried feeding in the morning and late in the evening. Food sticks to the tentacles but it never retracts to pull it in. Is there a specific food I should be trying to use? It does look very heathly still but unless its recieving food at night (which is obviously possible) then its not eating. It has grown since I got it only a few weeks ago (thanks mucho) and now has 5 small additional heads growning out of the side. What gives? I thought you had to feed them on a regular basis.

If it's doing good, don't worry. I seldom feed mine directly and they grow great. I think mine catch food when I feed fish too.

I don't direct feed mine at all. It gets from whatever I feed the tank. . It seems to be healthy and have several new heads popup. I think the important things are keep good calcium level 400+ and with good light source.

We've been feeding phyto plankton since December and the frog spawn we have has doubled in size. We usually just add a 1/4 cup at a time and let the power heads push it around the tank. Ocassionally we feed mysis and the frog spawn will grab some of that but not often. Hope that helps.

See I added silver sides to my home made recipe and everything in my tanks eats it. Well almost everything. I figured it was due to particle size more than the actual food, I could be wrong. I will keep a close eye on him. Whats a tell tale sign that they NEED food? Bleaching or tissue retraction maybe?

I've been considering getting a small frogspawn 'frag' (can't really frag them can you) for the school's aquarium.

If I have 440 W VHO on a 55 gallon, should I place them fairly high to 'simulate' the MH that I wish I had?

my dream would be to get a branching veriety...treat it well, and be able to cut off a head for a student when they build their own tank.
