Hello All,
I need help in understanding why I have lost few fishes. Ihad a pair of clown and they were very happy in my 46 gallon tank which was 2 months old. Then I added 3 chromis pretty big size ones. Just in a few days my clows were dead. After a few more days 2 out of my 3 chromis dead. I don't know why. Some people said that chromis are mean fishes and they hound other peaceful ones. Mine being larger size must have hounded them to death.

After a month of having only one chromis and a couple of shrimp nd handfull of CUC, I bought royal gramma being told they are very hardy fish. But 2 days later she is dead too.

I have checkd my water parameters and they are correct. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, <5 nitrates, ph 8.2, water temp 76 F.

So guys help me understand what is going on in my tank? Shall I take the lonely chrmis and return to LFS and start over with clown?

Do a 50% water change?

Anything else? I am baffled and really saddened with such a loss. I have very happy seeing my clowns running around for food in my tank.

Please help

Thank you
Sky

I'm sorry for your losses.

I wouldn't do anything just yet - you'll end up chasing ghosts.

So the entire tank is 3 months old now?

How long did you have the clowns?

Where did you get them?

Where did you get the chromises?

Where did you get the gramma?

I'm sorry I'm not helping. Just trying to color in the edges.

I am very sorry for your loss. I just lost my cbb after ten days in the display. It is possible that the chromis is the culprit but I would really suggest setting up a qt system in this case. You want to make sure all new fish are healthy and eating for about a month before introducing into the main tank. If your new fish do fine and qt and die after exposure to the main tank it helps narrow down possible issues. Also are you able to find bodies? What do the fish look like the day before death and after you find them.

Yes my tank is now 4 months old. I bought my lowns from Tropocorium in early de. My chrmis were alo from Tropocorium. I got them in late jan. After introducing 3 chromis which were bi sized, my clowns died withinh 3 days. I then waited 3 weeks and then bought gramma from Fish Docotors

I was not ale to find my dead gramma. May be it wss eaten up. But my clowns i was ble to pull them out and taken to fish doctors. Chris there was not able to find any trace of anything on the body. I think they were all stressed by chromis. I probably will return it
