Can anybody make suggestions on getting rid of that gurgling noise from the overflow box?

The water draining starts to make that tornado looking funnel into the tube and that's when the noise starts.

I am running a Mag7 return.

Even with the sponge on the inlet tube, it still makes noise. Sometimes I will even get water surges into the sump. It's very bizzare!

you probable need a durso Stand pipe it is easy to make so I hear.

um... i take it is an external overflow box? if it is look into the durso modification for external overflows? there is also a stockman modification that will fit in external overflow, BUT if its on overflow in the tank do a durso modification easy and under 5 bucks!

I have not made it myself but I als had this gurgling noise and I had a friend who was making a modified version of this and he gave me one but I can no longer find him. It is only difficult if you make it too big for the overflow box is what I was told.

its easy, cheap, and WORKS great! just get the size of the air hole right and it works like a charm!

i'm gonna have to make me one of those and incorperateit into my inside the tank overflow box and see if it will quit mine down.

im sure it will just make sure the air hole is the right size, you have to do testing to see what is the best size, also this WILL slow the amount of water you can drain so take that into account too,

I have one and it is very quiet. I was lucky to get one free.

I made mine with the Stockman modification and it works great.

SG, sometimes just putting a sponge in the inlet will work on keeping the noise down. the water level inside the overflow might rise a little, youd have to keep an eye on it.

my buddy had the same problems. he was going to build this big ole elaborate stockman pipe. at my suggestion he tried that and it works like a charm
