LOL
Been there ,done that.
Had one damsel years ago that would always hide in the same hole. I finally put a big clear plastic bag over the hole, stuffed paper towel in all the escape holes and it eventually came out and I got it. What a pain. Looked ridiculous but it worked.
Seemed like I always got every fish but the one I wanted in the bottle.

My fish is smarter than me.

Dude, try being outwitted for the last year by a six line wrasse. I have posted a million times about that fish so I won't go into it here but needless to say, it has been the worst fish I put in my tank. I have tried everything and no luck. My wife just sits and laughs at me and all the contraptions that have gone by the wayside. Good luck.

an Acrylic tube trap. it holds a petry like dish where you put the food in and there is a trap door that you hold open with fishing line. when the fish goes in for the food that it can see and smell you let go of the line and the fish is caught. i used it to trap some damsels. some of the LFS's should have one. if not you could use mine.

The best attempt I made was by using a fly fishing hook and some 2lb test line. I think the hook was a size 26. I used a piece of squid as bait. I hooked the 6 line twice but he got off due to two highly unlikely events: a cat took off with the excess line, thinking I was playing with him and the 6 line broke the line on a piece of rock. Now the 6 line will not go near a hook.
Good luck,

I Fished

I had a Sleeper Goby that was really messing up the tank. I got him to help clean the substrate and he did a good job. Unfortunately he also liked dropping sand all over my coral. I tried a net, tried trapping him and nothing worked. I finally took a small piece of krill and baited a very small hook. I tied it to a bit of fish line and dangled it into the tank. I almost caught the clown first but then along came the Goby and success! I already had a home for him so all worked out ok.

Singman, not sure about these other ideas but you can always use the DNR approved method of fishing. Peas yes Peas take a can of peas sprinkle them on the top of the tank when the desired fish comes up to take a pea hit him in the head. He is yours end of problem. Good luck you might also try waiting a hour or so after the lights are out then truning on the lights in the room or use a flash light and a net slowly net the fish you want they are a little slow at this time due to the lack of light . Hope it helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
