If he decides to go with T5/Compact Fluorescents I have 2 48” Coralife Dual CF Fixtures I’d sell pretty cheap. If I remember correctly one has new bulbs (1 full actinic 1 50/50) and the other only has 1 50/50 bulb. I also have a brand new Coralife dual 150w DE Metal Halide fixture that takes 4 Compact Fluorescent bulbs however I do not have the ballasts for it. It would make a good canopy retrofit candidate.
I've got a t5 retro kit that might work. It's actually 2 x 36" reflectors so you could mount them parallel in the 48" tank and get very nice coverage. Everything you need is included (ballasts, reflectors, end caps, 4 bulbs included). $40
I appreciate the replies, but he is really trying to get a LED fixture. His room is small and he is trying to cut down on how much heat is generated from the lights. He actually has a T5/Halide fixture now that someone else said they buy off of him, hence the reason he has some money for the LED fixture.
