I am setting up a 24g nanocube after a 20 year hiatus from the hobby. I am thinking of upgrading the lighting in my 24g nanocube to a 70watt K-2 Viper. Is this going to be an upgrade or do I need to go to the 150watt model. I am concerned about the heat from the larger HQI model in such a small tank.-confused

I use a 70Watt HQI MH with a pair of T5 HOs.

My MH is 14K the T5s are 11K.

I have a 32 Gallon Cube. So far I have been able to keep anything in my tank. SPS, LPS softies... ect...
Growth on SPS isn't that great IMO but, my tank isn't designed for SPS either. The MH doesn't overheat my system at all. But, if you can get the 150W, I think that would be the best idea.

Depending on what you are going to keep, you lighting will change. If you would like to keep mostly stoney corals the 150W will be a better choice. The 70w may be ok for everything else. It is actually a very small light.
