dimensions of tank- 17 5/8 x 36 x 22 deep. It is lit by 4 36 inch 96 watt power compacts. One ballast controls 2 96 wat bulbs, so i've got one ballast coming on at 10:00am ( 2bulbs ) the other ballast comes on at 1:00pm ( 2 more bulbs ) then the first set goes off at 8:00 pm and the last set goes off at 9:45 pm.

thats an awful lot of atinic for your tank. why not just run 2 actinic 03's and 2 10000k's?

as to your origional ? I have my lighting as follows

blue 7100k 11am on 11pm off
10,000k 1215pm on 1015pm off

when I replace the bulbs go with 2 10000 ks and 2 blues right. In the mean time Ill both sets longer, say 10 hours with both sets and 12 total. I do like the way the lights though.

Do not want to highjack the thread but what about MH? I have 2 175w 10000k on my 6ft 125. Any advice here?
ok lighting should be 10-14 hr periods leaning more towards 12hrs.

as far as going to 2 10000k's and 2 actinic 03's its personal preferance but the way you have it (with 50/50's) there really isnt enough light to have some of the medium light corals.

Should you split up the 12 hours or go with something like 10 to 10?

depends on what you want. you can do either split or just both on 12 hrs at same time. I myself prefer 12 and 10 but thats using atinics. when I go to hamiton 14000k ill go with just a 12hr photo period.
