Andy (old handle alvieman), near Bay City, MI
First tank in 2006'ish, on and off since then as time/money allows.

Pretty sure the hobby took quite a hit over the past few years. Not near as many people with the disposable income for something like this IMO. Happy to still see the site up and running though! I've been giving out the site info as I've chatted with people at various LFS's, etc. Hoping to see the site grow and generate some more activity :)

Any ideas on future coral swaps? Haven't seen anything in the forum yet was curious if there was anyone out there with any knowledge on the next one. Tank is up and cycled, starting to add the coral now.

Happy reefing!

Just joined.
In the process of moving up to Traverse City from the Dayton, OH area. I have been in the hobby since about 2004. Just tore down a 150gal system in Ohio and am currently in transition... My coral and fish from the old system are living in a custom made 60gal tank with plans to move to something rimless (possibly a Waterbox or RedSea Reefer).

The reef club that I am a member of in Ohio hasn't been super active the last several years, hoping to find some people in the Traverse City area that are active in the hobby.

Ashton - I'm in Mount Morris. Been keeping saltwater since 2003. Currently have my 75 gallon reef, and a couple fluval evos running as reefs. Wife and I are also setting up a 47 gallon rimless reef and converting our 65 gallon tall into a reef. Both my wife and I are hopelessly addicted to the reefkeeping hobby. I've been on this forum for a few years, unfortunately it has mostly died off besides the classifieds pages. Hopefully we can bring it back!

Bryan, White lake. Started salt water in 2016 and got addicted, moved from Commerce to White Lake in Oct. 2021, broke down my 11 tank system and setup a new system with a 360g display, 100g frag tank and 240g sump. Working on adding another 180g in wall display to the fish room. Unfortunately when I moved I lost about 80% of my live stock due to negligent movers…so starting over with a few years of experience under my belt, and so far it’s going well.

Can I suggest that everyone on this thread start a build thread for their reef on this forum? Even if it's already built, just describe the setup and add lots of pictures of your fish, corals, inverts, and equipment. Help bring some life back to this page

Here are my build threads. My tanks have grown from just my 75 gallon into what will shortly be the 75 gallon reef, 65 gallon reef, 47 gallon reef, and 2x fluval evo 13.5 gallon reefs, with a 20 gallon quarantine. Slowly turning the whole house into a zoo between all the fish and coral, the reptiles (snakes, geckos, tortoises, and a uromastyx), the parrot, the dogs, and the cats.

Still here.... been here since the day MR was started (2003 I believe?). Anyhow, I have a SPS-dominated 6-foot 135g, established January 2005, been all LED since 2009. Tank is way over-stuffed with coral (despite a major cutting a few months ago. If anyone is passing through in the Northville-Plymouth-Livonia-Novi area and looking for frags, let me know!

Tom in Chesterfield, still here and likely in it for the rest of the time. I started with aquariums in the late 80s with an 18G and evolved to a 1200 Gallon system, I recently rebooted my 560Gallon Acropora tank. Here is a picture of the 560Gallon with some mini colonies starting to grow out.

Aquariums on/off, up & down that's life... Just seems like the house is not complete without an aquarium. Was looking at family videos the other day when kids were toddlers... you can find an aquarium in the house (each house). Today well, my oldest has a PHD and her own family... Time flies...

Currently have 45 gal reef, started from frags from local hobbyist, many on this very site.
Maybe you can recognize your frag ;)
Next Month will be 1 year mark for this newly started tank

Happy to see reefers still using the site! Who’s here?
Please leave name, city and length in the hobby. Maybe we’ll try to bump up our numbers.

John. Was into Cichlids and had a 35 tank hatchery. After years I switched about 900 gallons over to salt. Around 2005. All predator reefs. Only spent a few years in salt. Recently set up two tanks. Trying some corals this time around but mainly Predator fish.
