If I was to run my 24 nano cube topless with a tank mounted MH light is that adequate all by itself? My concern is that maybe I shouldnt have MH light in the same position for 10-12 hours straight. I know most of you guys run a setup that mimics the actual surroundings that the corals would encounter in the wild, however I dont really have a way to do that on a nano. Let me know what you think.

As always thanks!

It will be fine to run just a MH without any supplemental lighting. Having a dusk/dawn effect is not necessary. How many watts and what bulb do you plan on running?

You could easily run a mh for a full light cycle. Overheating might be an issue, but this can be combated by fans. A bulb around 14k would give a nice blue white color.

It's fine, but I would suggest a 14K bulb and maybe a 150 watt lamp.

Are you planning on using a Viper setup? cichlid333 has one on their 24 Gal Nano and they are able to keep even hard corals.
