I need to liven up my fish tank and need some brainstorming for some ideal fishmates.
I have a 90 gallon tank that has been up for about 5 years or so. 4 inch sand bed, plenty of liverock, but arranged in a way where the fish can swim behind it and through it. Large sump with algae, sand, skimmer, carbon reactor. Technically my tank is a reef tank, but I have come to the understanding that I simply work too much to keep any corals that require much maintenance. So, I have only the hardiest of corals, and while I'd like to keep some "weed" corals, I care more about the fish. My regal pretty much limits my coral selection already.
Current tank mates are a 6 inch Regal Angel that I've had for years (Pacific Regal), and a female maroon clown, maybe 4 inches or so she is pretty feisty but generally leaves other fish alone.
So, any ideas? Main priorities are that (a) they must not harm my Regal, (b) they need to be interesting and/or fun, (c) they cannot need constant attention from me (ie. anthia).
I was looking at some small V.Lionfish and/or a niger trigger today. I'm assuming the niger would be a risk with the Regal and also with a Lion if trying to get both. Not sure if the clown would be safe from the lion long term. She is pretty tough and will get bigger as well.
Also, I was looking at the valintini puffers, but again I'm concerned about the angel getting nipped.
They had a cool marine betta. I assume my clown would be far to big for the betta to eat. They also had a cool spotted sweatlips, but I understand that eventually those get pretty big.
Then, my other though was a tank full of damsels. I know they are known to be ********, but they look awesome as a large group. I only wonder if my Regal and maroon would survive such a group of devils.
Looking for something that is either lively, or has a bunch of personality and is interesting.
Any comments are appreciated.
